Main Burner Systems

The main burner system is an important part of a sulfur recovery unit. It consists of a furnace body, a fuel air gun, a mixed-gas distributor, and a flame detector, in addition to important components such as an automatic telescopic igniter composition.

Acidic gas and air/oxygen in the main burner system are part of combustion, and enable the Claus reaction at a high temperature. More than 50% of sulfur is produced via high-temperature reaction in the main combustion system. The more sulfur is produced by main burner system, the greater the contribution of the sulfur recovery unit.

In order to avoid methanol, ammonia, and heavy hydrocarbons in feed gas and other adverse effects on device operation, furnace temperature reaches 1250℃ or more in order to completely eliminate these impurities by decomposition.

A properly designed and operated main burner system is therefore crucial to a properly operating Sulfur Recovery Unit.

Catalysts and Nutrients

In our sulfur recovery technology, catalyst selection represents an important factor impacting total sulfur recovery rate. Choosing a good catalyst is therefore crucial. Catalyst performance and lifespan play key roles in the proper running of the device. Hofung Sulphur Technology offers a wide range of catalysts for the various process it offers.

Claus Catalyst

Using high quality Claus Catalyst can raise the Claus device’s sulfur recovery rate to 98%, thereby facilitating a revolutionary leap in the sulfur recovery industry. Hofung Sulphur Technology mainly provides two types of catalysts: alumina and titanium oxide. Catalyst types include CR3S and CRS-31, which are supplied by Axens.

LT-SCOT Catalyst

Compared with SCOT, the LT-SCOT reaction temperature of the catalyst is very low. It can be as low as 210 ºC, so using the low-temperature catalyst allows the plant to run at a low temperature. This represents a revolutionary progress for the SCOT tail-gas treatment process. Compared with the conventional SCOT process, total investment and operation costs are greatly reduced. Hofung Sulphur Technology recommends Axens' TG107 catalyst, a special kind of cobalt/molybdenum catalyst.

Nutrimix® Nutrients

Critical in the THIOPAQ O&G Process, these nutrients are naturally-occurring, and obtain their energy for growth from the sulfide oxidation process. They are fast-growing and highly resistant to varying process conditions.
